lecture performance, 2023

A woman instructs a gorilla how to sign; a daughter asks her demented father about her birth; a mother shows her young son how to pronounce a word. In her lecture performance Cordula Daus embodies different characters in five scenes. Voices and vowels move in and out of the performer as she mimics processes of learning and forgetting. nipplepeople explores the entanglements of language, body and sexuality by interweaving field recordings and autobiographical material with documentary footage. The work was developed in response to Erik Bünger’s video Nature See You (2022) in the framework of Thou shalt not speak (FWF) [AR688].
