nipplepeople

lecture performance, 2023/2024

nipplepeople is a lecture-performance that explores the entanglements of language, body and sexuality. Cordula Daus embodies different characters in five scenes. A woman instructs a gorilla how to sign; a daughter asks her demented father about her birth; a mother shows her young son how to pronounce a word. Voices and vowels move in and out of the performer as she mimics processes of learning and forgetting. Field recordings and autobiographical material are interwoven with documentary footage. The work was developed in response to Erik Bünger’s video Nature See You (2022) in the framework of Thou shalt not speak (FWF) [AR688].
