I like to build situations for thinking together anew. Often, conversations become the starting point. But first communication must be disturbed. Simple language hacks allow perspectives to shift: I, we and you swap and convert, co-verse and may bring into being what does not yet, or not fully, exist — in and beyond language.

My recent project, outerwoman is a thought experiment on a world beyond the biological family. In dialogue with midwives, biologists, neonatologists and three performers, I develop methods to look at love, desire, parenthood from a distance. Often, our biographies become material to rehearse other relations. Sometimes, new feelings.

Certain questions keep returning to me: How do we make each other? How do pain and knowing relate? How can »we« transform? With the choreographer Charlotta Ruth, I train the muscle of questioning and we-speak. I co-founded the Special Interest Group for Language-Based Artistic Research (SIG/SAR). Most recently, Emma Cocker and Lena Séraphin and I facilitated Convocation III, bringing together more than seventy artists at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. I’m currently in conversation (again) with Grünewald’s painted Mary, together with the performer Sebastian Bark (She She Pop).

My books grow out of field studies and long-term collaborations. They find their form slowly, moving between speaking, performing and writing. Sehr was published by Ritter Verlag in 2024. Most recently outerwoman. Ein Handwörterbuch was published by Vexer Verlag.
